This project started as a note to myself after a long year of recovering from an abusive relationship, serious depression, and general upheaval. It’s inspired by one of my favorite books, The Next American Revolution, by Grace Lee Boggs. Grace believes that it is important for us as organizers and community builders, to stay in touch with our power, agency, and capacity for creating change, even as we work to end the very real injustices and forces of oppression that shape our lives. It’s been a struggle for me to stay in contact with a feeling of agency and power over my life, so I wrote this note to myself to hang on my wall, and thought that others might appreciate it too.
This is all my original writing and collage and ink drawing. The doodle-y version features a mix of collage images and drawings with themes of nature, community, and resistance, while the collage version contains images of photos from various sources, lots of little sparkly things, and a piece of a hair wrap a friend gave me as a present. Each poster is 8.5×11 or standard letter size, and is printed on high quality white card stock.
Below is a better picture of each version. When purchasing, please let me know which version you would prefer! Otherwise, I will email you at the email associated with your PayPal.
