J20 Resistance Zine Submission

J20 Resistance Poem Madeleine Keller

January 2017

I submitted this spread to a zine themed around resistance specifically made to benefit the legal defense of the J20 Defendants who were arrested using an illegal technique while protesting the inauguration. In July 2018, the attorney’s office dropped all remaining charges thanks to pressure and solidarity. I suggest reading this site for more info if interested.

The poem on the righthand page is surrounded by original artwork inspired by the struggle at Standing Rock in 2016. The Dakota Access pipeline has since been constructed and is set to be expanded. The North Dakota legal system is still processing the hundreds of people who were arrested during the protest. This information comes from this fairly recent NPR story on the issue. Another good source on the issue is the Lakota Law Project’s Defending Dissent Campaign.

Please feel free to read/reproduce this material if it inspires you. All I ask is that you credit me!
